Boil some sliced turnips and potatoes, equal amount of each in the same saucepan, Starting the turnips about 15 minutes before the potatoes. Drain and mash well together, adding a tablespoon of drippings or bacon fat and a small quantity of hot milk and salt and pepper. Beat vigorously until smooth and creamy.
