    Soup, Savory Tomato Beef

    Mountain Fuel, Salt Lake City, Utah

    List of Ingredients

    1 pound beef stew meat,in 1 inch cubes
    1 small soup bone
    2 tblsp butter or oil
    4 C water
    1 (28 oz) can tomatoes, peeled and chopped, with juice
    1 C sliced carrots
    1 C chopped celery
    1/4 C chopped celery leaves
    1 tblsp salt
    1/2 tsp marjoram
    1/2 tsp basil
    1/4 tsp savory
    1/4 tsp thyme
    1/8 tsp mace
    1/8 tsp tabasco

    Recipe

    Brown the beef, in the butter or oil, in a 5 quart pot with the soup bone. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 2 1/2 hours. Skim off fat and remove the soup bone before serving.
