Soup, Split Pea with Pecans

List of Ingredients
2-4 quarts of water
1 ham bone
1 medium onion
1 tsp cumin, ground
1 bay leaf
6-8 sprigs of parsley
2 1/4 oz pecans,(1 1/2 C)
1 T crushed pineapple
1 pound split peas
salt and pepper, to taste
Recipe
Boil the ham bone in plenty of water to cover, 2-4 quarts until meat falls from bone and joints separate easily. Cool, and in the meantime reduce the ham stock to 2 quarts.Chop the meat from the ham bone into small pieces. In a food processor, chop the onion in 3 short bursts. Chop the parsley and pecans together in 6-8 bursts. Add ham, onions,cumin, bay leaf, parsley, pecans, pineapple, split peas, salt and pepper to the reduced stock. Cook until peas are done to your preference. (almost a Puree)
