Southern
Bake apples as usual, using 1/4 C brown sugar and 1/8 C butter per apple, until slightly underdone (very firm). Chill.
Cut the apples from top to bottom into 12 slices. (can be frozen at this point.)
When ready to use, fry in butter 5-10 minutes. Serve with, sausage, hominy grits, biscuits, etc....
