Cabbage and Apples German Style

2 T butter
1/3 C finely chopped onion
2 T sugar
6 C shredded red cabbage
1/2 C red wine vinegar
2 tsp salt
1 C diced cooking apple
2 T sugar
1 1/2 C sour cream at room temperatureRecipe
In skillet melt butter; Saute onion with 2 T sugar for 5 minutes. Stir in cabbage, vinegar and salt. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Add apple and 2 T sugar. Cover and cook about 5 minutes. Transfer to heated platter, spoon sour cream over center of cabbage. Garnish with apple slices if desired.
