Recipe Introduction
This apple crisp is wonderful!
List of Ingredients
2 1/2 pounds apples -- peeled & chopped
1 pkg. butterscotch morsels -- (about 12 oz.)
1/4 C. packed light brown sugar
1/4 C. flour
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 C. flour
1/4 C. packed light brown sugar
1/4 C. butter
1 C. pecans -- chopped
3/4 C. quick oats
Recipe
Preheat oven to 375. Place apples in a 13x9x2-inch baking pan. In small bowl combine butterscotch morsels, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Bake in oven for 20 minutes.
TOPPING: In a medium bowl, combine flour and brown sugar, cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in pecans and oats; sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until apples are tender.
NOTES : I served it warm with Breyer's vanilla ice cream. I followed the recipe pretty closely, except I used a little more cinnamon in the butterscotch mixture and also added some to the topping. I only used 3/4 cup pecans and next time I might toast them and use only 1/2 cup. I used a mixture of Granny Smith, Braeburn, and Pink Lady apples. Also, after adding the topping I only baked another 20-25 minutes--I'm sure it depends on how big your apple pieces are.
