    List of Ingredients




    1 cup shortening
    2 1/2 cups sugar
    4 large eggs
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
    3/4 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp each - cinnamon, cloves, allspice
    1 cup buttermilk

    1 (11.5 oz) jar pear preserves
    1 cup chopped pecans

    Recipe



    Beat shortening and sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs, beating well. Stir in vanilla.

    Combine flour and next 4 ingredients. Add to shortening alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition. Fold in preserves and pecans. Pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan.

    Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour 20 minutes or til wooden pick comes clean fro center of cake. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes, remove from pan, cool completely. Dust top of cake with powdered sugar.
