    BROWNIES: Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies

    Source of Recipe

    Luke AFB Wives Club

    List of Ingredients

2 packages cream cheese (3 oz. each)
    5 tablespoons butter
    1/3 cup sugar
    2 large eggs
    2 tablespoons flour
    3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 package family size brownie mix
    1/4 cup chopped pecans

    FROSTING
    3 tablespoons butter
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
    2 tablespoons milk
    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

    Recipe

Soften cream cheese and butter; beat together until creamy. Add sugar, eggs, flour and vanilla; beat until smooth. Set aside.

Prepare CAKE-LIKE brownies with nuts as directed on package. Pour half the brownie mixture into a greased 13x9" pan. Pour cream cheese mixture over brownie mixture. Spoon remaining brownie batter over the top. Swirl 2 mixtures with a knife for a marbled effect. bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until done. Cool and frost. Makes 16-20 brownies

FROSTING: Melt butter in medium saucepan. Stir in cocoa until dissolved. Add confectioner's sugar, milk and vanilla. Stir until smooth. (More milk may be added if necessary.) Frost brownies. Set aside until firm.

    NOTES:
Brownie Note: Besides nuts chocolate chips may be added to the batter (or frosting) if desired.

Frosting Note: If you are short on time anyone of Pillsbury's chocolate frostings in a can will work.

MY NOTES: I have made this omitting the butter and flour in the cream cheese "swirls" mixture with no problems. I've also added mini chocolate chips to it.
