    BROWNIE MIX: Sand Art Brownies

    Source of Recipe

    TRN's "Holiday Cooking" 1998

    Recipe Introduction

Brownie mix in a decorative jar. A great idea for the holidays! In a quart jar, layer in order:

    1/3 C baking cocoa
    2/3 C sugar
    1/2 C chocolate chips
    1/2 C white chocolate chips
    2/3 C brown sugar

Lightly pack down contents of the jar at this point.

    Continue to add:

    1 1/8 C flour
    1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C walnuts or pecans, chopped

This should fill the jar. At this point, seal the jar with it's original lid. Decorate the lid with festive material & ribbon. Attach a small note (cut paper with pinking shears) for the recipient with the following instructions for preparing the recipe.

    INSTRUCTIONS;

    In a large bowl combine:
    3 large eggs
    2/3 C oil
    1 tsp pure vanilla extract
    Contents of jar

Stir until moistened. Pour into a greased 9x9" pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.

For the holidays you could also use different flavored chips to change up the color/flavors of your jars..........chocolate chip mint brownies (using the green chips) & replace the vanilla w/ mint extract...................or try peanut butter or butterscotch chips (a light brown).............baking M&Ms for real color! Just use your imagination!
