    FRENCH TOAST: Amaretto French Toast

    List of Ingredients




    6 slices french bread slices, cut 1" thick
    4 large eggs
    1/2 cup milk
    1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    2 tablespoons amaretto, or other almond liqueur
    3 tablespoons butter or margarine
    1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
    powdered sugar
    maple syrup, warmed

    Recipe



    Arrange bread in a 13x9" baking dish. Whisk eggs, milk, brown sugar, almond extract, and Amaretto; pour over bread. Let stand 2.5 minutes on each side. Chill 8 hours. Melt butter at 400° in a 15x10" jelly roll pan; add bread. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes;turn. Bake 8 more minutes or until golden. Sprinkle with almonds and powdered sugar.
