FRENCH TOAST: Nanny's Baked French Toast

Prepare this the night before.
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 loaves of French bread
9 eggs (can use 9 to 12 eggs)
2 c milk
2 c half-and-half
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 tbsp dark Karo syrup
1 1/2 sticks butter
3/4 c dark brown sugar
1 Granny Smith apple, chopped
1/2 cups pecans, chopped
Recipe
The night before cut bread into 1" slices and place, 2 slices deep, into a buttered 9x13" baking dish. Beat eggs, milk, half & half, cinnamon and nutmeg together and pour over bread.
The next morning melt butter, brown sugar and syrup in small saucepan and pour over bread and egg mixture. Top with apples and pecans. Bake at 350° for 1 hour, covered, then 1/2 hour uncovered. Serve with pancake syrup or other topping of your choice Serves 6-8
