    Betty Crocker’s Easy Low-Fat Cooking

    Recipe Introduction

Try replacing the oats with low-fat granola for wonderful crunch! This substation works best suing granola without dried fruit, such as raisins. Also, make sure that the granola is not in large clusters.

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 cup old-fashioned oat
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1 cup skim milk
1/4 cup fat-free egg product or 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
    3 tbsp. margarine, melted
    2/3 cup all-purpose flour
    2 tbsp. wheat germ
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. grated orange peel

    Maple-Yogurt Topping
    1 cup plain nonfat yogurt
    1/4 cup maple syrup

    Recipe

    1. Mix oats, brown sugar and milk in large bowl; let stand 10 minutes. Stir egg product and margarine into oat mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients except Maple-Yogurt Topping.

    2. Heat nonstick waffle iron; spray with nonstick cooking spray. For each waffle, pour 1 cup batter onto center of hot waffle iron. Bake 4-5 minutes or until steaming stops and waffle is golden brown. Carefully remove waffle.

    Maple-Yogurt Topping
    1. Mix ingredients until well blended.

    2. Top waffles with Maple-Yogurt. Garnish with additional grated fresh orange peel and chopped cranberries, if desired. Makes 8 4 inch waffle squares.
