    Better Home & Garden Christmas Cookies 1998

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 cup butter, NO substitutes
    1 cup sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 large egg
    1 large egg white
    2 cups all-purpose flour

    POWDERED SUGAR FROSTING
    2 cups sifted powdered sugar
    2 tablespoons milk
    food coloring (paste kind)

    Beat butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar, cinnamon, and baking powder; beat until combined. Beat in egg and egg white. Beat in as much of the flour as you can. Stir in any remaining flour with a wooden spoon. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill for 3 hours or overnight. Roll each portion of the dough on a lightly floured surface til 1/4" thick. Cut into desired shapes. Place cutouts 1 1/2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes or til edges are brown. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Makes about 20-24 cookies

    FROSTING: Stir together 2 cups. powdered sugar and 2 tbsp. milk. stir in additional milk, 1 tsp. at time, until icing is of spreading consistency. Color as desired with food coloring. Spread cooled Cookies with frosting.
