"Almost Like" A Cadbury Creme Egg

    Source of Recipe

    internet

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 c light Karo syrup
1/4 c butter, softened - use ONLY butter
    1 tsp pure vanilla
    1/4 tsp kosher salt
    3 c confectioner's sugar
    4 drops yellow food coloring
    2 drops red food coloring
1 bag milk chocolate chips - (12 oz)
    2 tbsp Crisco (butter) shortening

    Recipe

Combine Karo, butter, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Beat well with an mixer until smooth. Add confectioner's sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition. Mix well until creamy.

Remove about 1/3 of mixture and place it into a small bowl. Add yellow and red food coloring and stir well to combine. Cover both mixtures and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. When mixtures are firm, roll a small marblesize ball from orange filling, and wrap around it a portion of the white filling that is roughly twice the size. Make this filling into the shape of an egg and place it onto a cookie sheet that's been brushed with a light coating of Crisco. Repeat for remaining filling ingredients, then refrigerate centers for 3-4 hrs or until firm.

Mix milk chocolate chips & Crisco in a glass measuring cup/bowl. Microwave high speed for 1 minute, then stir and microwave again for 1 more minute, stirring 1 more time. Using a fork dip each center into the chocolate, tapping the fork on the side of the bowl -- place each candy on wax paper and chill. After 1-2 hrs of chilling, dip each candy once more and chill for several hrs (overnight) or until completely firm. Makes about 2 dozen Cadbury Creme Eggs
