    Applesauce with Cranberry Juice

    Source of Recipe

    AOL Gardening Board 1998

    List of Ingredients

    10-12 medium apples
    2 c cranberry cocktail juice
    Juice from 1/4 - 1/2 lemon
2 tbsp sugar (or more to taste)
    Craisins - opt

    Recipe

Wash, core, and chop (but don't peel) the apples. Squirt lemon juice on them as you chop to keep them from browning. Put them in crock pot. Pour cranberry juice & mix in sugar. Set crock pot to high for the first couple hours, then turn it to low for 4 to 6 hours. Stir occasionally and mush up the apples as they get soft. Taste and add sugar if it's too tart for you. If you want to add craisins or dried cranberries, add them about 2 hrs before end of cooking. Serve apple juice warm (leftovers are good cold or warmed up). The cranberry juice & apple peels turn this a very pretty pink color.
