    How to Store Coffee

    Source of Recipe

    internet

    Recipe Introduction

It is always recommended that you buy coffee in the bean form and grind it yourself. Therefore, it is ideal to invest in a good burr grinder which produces more uniform coffee granules rather than a blade grinder.

    List of Ingredients

If you're using your coffee beans right away (within 2 weeks), the best way to store it is in an airtight container away from heat. Storing your beans in the refrigerator will result in the drying of the beans.

If coffee beans are being stored for a longer period of time, it is recommended that you store them in an absolutely airtight bag in the freezer, and it's a good idea to portion out your coffee in smaller amounts. (Every time you take the beans in and out of the freezer they are being exposed to moisture in the air, resulting in deterioration.) Also, remember, like all frozen foods, coffee beans need to "defrost" so they should sit covered at room temperature for a little while before or after being ground.

If you're buying your coffee already ground, the same rules apply, except ground coffee deteriorates much faster than coffee beans.
