4 MED. ONIONS

WASH,PARE AND THINLY SLICE POTAOTES AND ONIONS.
IN SMALL SAUCE PAN MELT BUTTER. REMOVE FROM HEAT AND ADD FLOUR, PEPPER AND SALT. UNTIL SMOOTH. BLEND IN MILK. COOK, STIRRING CONSTANTLY OVER MEDIUM HEAT TO BOILING POINT OR UNTIL THICKENED AND SMOOTH.
IN PRPARED (BUTTERED)2 QT.CASSAROLE DISH LAYER 1/3 OF THE POTATOES,ONIONS AND HAM. TOP WITH 1/3 SAUCE. REPEAT LAYERING POTATOES, ONIONS, HAM AND SAUCE.
BAKE IN 400 DEGREE OVEN UNTIL POTATOES ARE FORK TENDER.
