French Fried Onion Rings

2 to 3 Ige. Onions
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
3/4 c. milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. melted fat or oil
Recipe
Cut onions into 1/4-inch slices; separate into rings.
Sift flour with baking powder, salt and sugar.
Combine milk, egg and fat; add to dry ingredients all at once, beating until smooth.
Dip onion rings into batter; drain off excess batter.
Fry in fat or oil at 375 degrees until golden brown and crisp.
Drain on absorbent paper; sprinkle with salt.
Can do in a deep fryer as well.
