    List of Ingredients

    Dough:
    4 C flour
    1 C butter softened
    1/2 C sugar
    1 t salt
    2 egg yolks slightly beaten
    1 C milk warmed
    1 cake yeast(or 2pckgs dry-not platinum) 2 1/2 t yeast
    Filling:
    1/2 C butter melted
    2 C sugar
    1 C milk
    1t vanilla
    1 1/2 lbs. walnuts, ground (finely)

    Recipe

    Dissolve yeast in warm milk & add eggs to the mixture. Mix flour, butter, sugar and salt as for pie. Add milk mixture to flour mixture. Work dough until soft at least 15 minutes. Wipe oil over and leave in refrigerator overnight or at least 5-6 hours covered. Remove from refrigerator and let stand 1-2 hours to warm & get pliable. Prepare filling: Make filling by mixing milk, butter and walnuts to make a “paste”. Add more milk if needed if too hard to spread. Roll dough to 23 x 40 inches and spread filling over dough. Roll up and cut into 5-6 loaves. Let loaves rise 1 hour. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour 10 minutes.
