    Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

    List of Ingredients




    2 eggs
    1 tbsp. water
    1 cup dry bread crumbs
    1-1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    12 sticks string cheese
    3 tbsp. flour
    1 tbsp. butter, melted
    1 cup marinara or spaghetti sauce

    Recipe



    In a small bowl, beat together the eggs and water.

    In a plastic bag, combine the bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and pepper.

    Coat cheese sticks in the flour, then dip in egg mixture and bread crumb mixture. Repeat egg and bread crumb coatings a second time.

    Place cheese sticks on a baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight (this step is very important, or the cheese will melt and flatten during baking).

    Drizzle the cheese sticks with the melted butter.

    Bake, uncovered, at 400º for 6 to 8 minutes or until heated through.

    Allow to stand 3 minutes before serving.

    Use marinara or spaghetti sauce for dipping.

    Yield: 4 servings.
