    Chicken Fried Steak

    List of Ingredients

    6 medium tenderized steaks
    1 cup flour
    1 cup milk
    2 cups cracker crumbs
    butter as needed for frying

    GRAVY:
    3 - 4 tbsp flour
    2 - 3 cups milk
    salt & pepper to taste

    Recipe

    Lightly season each steak with salt, dredge it in flour, dip in milk & dredge in crumbs. Place in medium-hot skillet with melted butter. Sprinkle with pepper. Follow suit with remainder of steaks. Cook until nicely browned, turning once. Remove from skillet.

    Add 3 - 4 tbsp. flour to drippings, blending until smooth. Cook 3 - 4 minutes. Gradually add milk, stirring until smooth. Continue to cook & stir until it begins to thicken. Reduce heat and cook 5 - 6 more minutes.

    Serve steaks with a ladle of gravy poured over.

    (If less breading is desired, delete dredging steaks in flour & milk - just go straight to the bread crumbs.)
