    List of Ingredients




    2 tablespoons butter
    1/2 pound lean ground beef
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup milk
    1/4 cup chopped green pepper
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1/2 cup milk
    1 tablespoon chopped parsley (garnish)
    Your favorite baking powder biscuit recipe

    Prepare baking powder biscuit recipe and cut into eight 3-inch squares.
    Melt butter in a skillet, add beef and brown lightly, breaking up with a fork. Add onion, crumbs, salt, 1/3 cup milk and green pepper, stirring well.

    Divide meat mixture on four of the squares. Place the remaining squares on top to form shortcakes. Crease tops with the back of a knife to form a pattern, brush with milk. Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 425 for 15 minutes.

    Place soup in saucepan, add water and stir until blended, heating to boil. Remove from stove, add parsley. transfer shortcake to platter and serve with the mushroom sauce.
