    8 slices French bread, cut 1-inch thick
    8 tablespoons butter or margarine
    4 eggs
    2 egg yolks
    3 cups milk
    1 cup heavy whipping cream
    ½ cup sugar
    1 tablespoon vanilla
    Nutmeg
    *Cinnamon
    *Raisins

    Recipe



    Butter both sides of bread, and lay into buttered 9-by-13-inch baking pan. In a large bowl, beat eggs and egg yolks until well-blended. Add milk, cream, sugar and vanilla; beat well. Pour over bread, and sprinkle desired amount of nutmeg over all. Cover and chill overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Uncover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with syrup, or sprinkle powdered sugar over each serving.

    Makes 8 to 10 servings.

    *I cannot make a French toast like this without cinnamon and raisins.
