1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. molasses
Recipe
Cream butter gradually; add sugar beating well. Add eggs, beating well. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with water and molasses, beginning and ending with flour mixture and beating well after addition.
Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes.
Yield: one loaf.
