    2 - 10" crust pie crusts

    FILLING:
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    8 cups granny smith apples
    2 tbsp. butter

    TOPPING:
    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    2 tbsp. half & half
    3/4 cup chopped pecans

    Preheat oven to 425°. Peel and slice apples.

    Line 9" deep dish pie plate with crust. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Toss with apples. Put mixture into the crust. Dot with the 2 tbsp. of butter. Top with second crust and seal edges; cut slits in several places.

    Bake for 35-45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Cover edges of crust after 15 minutes of baking to prevent burning. remove from oven and top with Praline Topping.

    Topping: Melt butter in small saucepan; stir in brown sugar and half & half. Slowly bring to a boil; remove from heat. Stir in pecans. Spread over top of cooked pie. Place pie on cookie sheet. Return to oven and bake an additional 2-3 minutes or until topping bubbles. Cool at least 1 hour before serving.
