    2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
    1 2/3 cups sugar
    2/3 cups cocoa
    1 1/4 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp baking powder
    1 1/4 cups water
    3/4 cups shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp vanilla extract

    I usually just throw it all in a bowl and mix but you can separate like any other cake. Heat oven 350, grease and flour 2-9inch pans, bake layers for 30-35 minutes.
    This is the cake I ask for every year!
