Butternut Cake W/ Butternut Frosting

2 Sticks Butter -- Softened
3 C Flour
1 Tsp Baking Soda
3 Eggs -- At Room Temperature
2 C Sugar
1 C Buttermilk
1/4 Tsp Salt
3 Tsp Butternut Flavoring
Recipe
Cream butter and sugar together. In a separate bowl mix the baking soda, salt and buttermilk, beating until foamy. Add the buttermilk mixture, the four and the eggs alternately to the cream mixture beating all the time until the total amount is added. Stir in flavoring. Bake in three 9" pans lined with parchment paper at 350 degrees for about 30 mins until done.
Cool on wire racks.
BUTTERNUT FROSTING:
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
2 tsp of butternut flavoring
1stick of butter, melted
1 box XXX sugar, sifted
1 cup chopped pecans
Cream the cream cheese and XXX sugar until smooth. Mix in the butter. Add the flavoring and pecans and stir until mixed. Spread between layers and on top and sides of cake.
