Grease and line an 8" cake tin. Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C/Gas 4. 2. Cream together butter/margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. 3. Gradually beat in the eggs. 4. Fold in the flour. 5. Put into the cake tin and level the top. 6. Mix together the sugar, cinnamon and flaked almonds. 7. Peel and core the apple. Cut the apple into thin sHces and cover the top of the cake with them. 8. Sprinkle the nut mixture over the top of the apples. 9. Bake for about 30 minutes. 10. Allow to cool slightly then turn out carefully onto a piece of greaseproof paper. Then reverse the cake so the apple is uppermost and cool.
