    List of Ingredients




    3 to 4 cups chopped pears
    2 cups sugar
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    ½ teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    1 cup vegetable oil
    2 eggs
    1 cup nuts, optional
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 teaspoon butter flavoring (optional)

    Heat oven to 325 degrees. Peel, core and chop pears. In large glass mixing bowl, combine chopped pears and sugar and let stand one hour. (This makes the liquid for the cake.)

    Add remaining ingredients, mixing by hand. Spread in well-greased tube or loaf pan and bake 1 hour or until cake tests done.

    For Pear Bread, use the same recipe but decrease the sugar to ½-cup and add ¼-cup fruit juice and 1 cup chopped dates.
