1 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1 env. unflavored gelatin
1/2 tsp salt
1 3/4 c milk
3/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond flavoring
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 c whipped cream
1 c shredded coconut
1 baked 9" pie shell
Recipe
Combine 1/2 c sugar, flour, gelatin and salt in saucepan.
Stir in milk gradually. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Cool in pan of cold water until thickened. Stir in flavorings. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Add remaining 1/2 c sugar gradually, beating until stiff. Fold the cooked mixture into egg whites.
Fold in whipped cream and coconut. Spoon into pie shell.
Chill until serving time. Garnish with green and red marschino cherries.
