Calif-Vermont Sauce (figs & maple syrup)

    Source of Recipe

by mercyteapot, from California Fig Advisory Board

    Recipe Introduction

MTP's Note: For campfire breakfasts, we like to wind biscuit dough around green sticks and cook as if roasting a marshmallow. This will be more of a dunking sauce for us!

    List of Ingredients

    16 California dried figs
    2 c Maple syrup
    2 c Water

    Recipe

With scissors, snip stems from figs. Cut them into small bits, place in saucepan with syrup and water. Place over heat, bring to boil, lower to simmer and cook gently until figs are tender and sauce is slightly thickened, about 15 minutes.

Wonderful on: Angel Food or pound cake, ice cream, pancakes, waffles or over hot biscuits. Serves 6-8.
