    Sweet . . . . . . with a touch of heat

    Makes 1 pound

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup light corn syrup
    1/2 cup cashews, chopped
    1/2 cup pecans, chopped
    1 teaspoon butter
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1 pinch nutmeg
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon rum extract
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Recipe



    1. Butter a 15x10x1-inch pan; set aside.

    2. In a 2-quart microwae safe bowl, combine sugar and corn syrup. Microwave, uncovered on high for 3 minutes; stir. Microwave 2 1/2 minutes longer.

    3. Stir in cashews, pecans, butter, cinnamon, cayenne, salt, and nutmeg. Microwave, uncovered, oh high for 2 minutes or until mixtures turns a light amber color (mixture will be VERY HOT).

    4. Quickly stir in baking soad and extracts utnil light and foamy. Immediately pour into prepared pan; spread with metal spatula.

    5. Cool completely. Break into pieces; store in airtight container.
