Recipe Introduction
I usually buy a large cabbage and try to get 12 good leaves or I buy 2 smaller and use outer leaves.
List of Ingredients
1¼ lbs. lean ground beef
3/4 cup cooked rice
1 small minced onion
salt & pepper to taste
6 ounces tomato sauce
12 cabbage leaves
SAUCE:
10 ounces tomato sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
Recipe
Core cabbage and place in pot of boiling water and cover. After about 4 minutes ... remove, drain and separate large outer leaves. (They should be soft). If core on leaf is large, cut out.
Divide meat mixture evenly on each leaf and roll up.
Put a layer of old, cracked leaves (or inner smaller leaves) on bottom of large fry pan or dutch oven as a base. Lay your rolls (fold side down) on top.
Mix together sauce ingredients and pour over rolls, cover tightly and bake at 350° for 1½ hours or simmer on top of stove for same amount of time (also covered).
Gooooood. Leftovers freeze well too.
