    3/4 cup butter, room temperature
    1-1/2 cups sugar
    2 tsp. almond extract
    1/2 t. vanilla
    2 eggs, beaten
    1-1/2 cups flour

    Topping:
    2 tablespoons sliced or slivered almonds
    2 tablespoons sugar

    Recipe



    Line an 8-Inch or 9-inch round cake pan with foil. You don’t need to grease it.

    Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Mix and add flour. Mix until flour is incorporated. Pat or spoon into foil-lined pan. Sprinkle with almonds and sugar.

    Bake in a 350-degree oven for 35 - 40 minutes. Some people like it golden brown; others like it paler, so watch it the last few minutes to the shade you wish.

    Cool and peel foil from torte. Place on serving plate and cut into wedges.
