    French Carmelized Apple Pudding

    Recipe Introduction

    These are really baked apples. Instead of being caramelized and spicy, they are light and syrupy and taste of cloves. They are delicious cold with their clear, sweet syrup.

    List of Ingredients

    6 lg. baking apples
    1 tsp ground nutmeg
    1 cup white wine
    1 tsp ground ginger
    3 whole cloves
    3/4 cup sugar

    Recipe

    Preheat to 350. Peel apples. As you peel them, place them in a bowl with the wine and turn to coat the surface of each apple, allowing them to soak in wine while completing remaining preparations.
    Place spices and half the sugar into a buttered 9x9x1¾ “ baking dish. Arrange apples in dish and sprinkle on remaining sugar. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until tender. Baste several times while cooking.
    Note: Granny Smith apples are a good choice (the big hard green ones).
