(1 L.) strawberries 3 tbsp. (45 mL.) balsamic vinegar 3 tbsp. (45 mL.) sugar freshly ground pepper as neededRecipe Wash and hull strawberries, cut into quarters. Sprinkle them with balsamic vinegar and sugar; combine well and let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or as long as 4 hours. Divide berries among 4 dessert dishes. Just before serving, sprinkle with freshly ground pepper. The big surprise: when pepper is first ground, it has an overtone of sweetness.
