Apple Cranberry Relish

This can be made several days ahead.

1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. EACH ground cinnamon, cloves, and allspice
1/2 cup apples cider or juice
2 medium size tart apples, cored and chopped
1 # fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Recipe
Put all ingredients, except the walnuts, into a medium size sauce pan and cook over med-high heat until the cranberries pop.
Turn heat to low and simmer for a few more minutes until it thickens.
Remove from heat and stir in the walnuts.
If it seems too thick, just add a little extra apple cider.
Makes about 4 1/2 cups. Can be served warm or cooled.
