    Shoofly Pie (Pennsylvania Dutch)

    List of Ingredients

    1 unbaked pie shell

    Crumbs:
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. br. sugar

    Filling:
    3/4 t. baking soda
    1/8 t. nutmeg
    A little ginger, cinnamon and cloves
    1/4 t. salt
    3/4 c. molasses
    3/4 c. hot water

    Recipe

    Crumbs:
    Work ingredients together until crumbly.

    Filling:
    Combine dry ingredients with molasses and add hot water.

    Layer crumbs & filling in pie crust, alternating layers with crumbs on bottom and top.

    Bake 15 minutes at 450*, reduce heat to 350* and bake 20 more minutes.
