List of Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup butter
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 lb. ground beef
4 strips bacon, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons fresh snipped parsley
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
dash of freshly ground black pepper
1 cup canned tomatoes
1 cup tomato puree (you could reduce this)
1 large carrot, grated
2 ribs celery, finely chopped
2 oz. red wine
Recipe
Warm olive oil & butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add onion and saute until golden. Add ground beef and bacon, saute until browned, stirring to break up the beef. Add garlic, parsley, salt, red & black pepper - cook over low heat for at least 10 minutes. Add wine, cover and steam for a few minutes more; then add tomatoes and puree. Bring to boiling, add carrots & celery, cover and simmer over very low heat for one hour, stirring occasionally. Serve over hot cooked pasta - top with grated fresh parmesan, if desired.
Serves four.

1/2 lb. ground beef, crumbled, browned & drained
1 cup minced onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 large carrot, grated
2 ribs celery, finely chopped
1/2 cup green pepper, finely chopped
6 - 8 oz. fresh sliced mushrooms
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. crushed red pepper
dash of fresh ground black pepper
1 pint canned tomatoes
1 cup tomato sauce
2 oz. red wine
Combine all ingredients; simmer for a couple hours.
