Monte Cristo Sandwiches

Recipe Introduction
This is my mother's recipe for Monte Cristo. She would make these sandwiches and add some fruit or a little chips on the side on her really busy days for our meal. We would be so excited because we loved them. I make these for my family now but don't always add half and half. It's still my favorite sandwich for dinner, and now it is my hubby's as well.
List of Ingredients
4 slices sourdough bread
Butter at room temp.
2 thin slices ham
2 thin slices turkey
2 slices swiss cheese
2 eggs
1/2 cup whipping cream or half and half
pinch salt and pepper
Recipe
Butter bread on one side.
Put 1 slice ham, 1 slice cheese and 1 slice turkey on each sandwich. Trim off overhangings and feed to a small friend (my mom gave it to the cats...LOL)!
Cut each sandwich in half across from one corner to the diagonal corner making long triangles.
Beat the eggs in a bowl. Blend in the cream or half and half. Add a dash salt and pepper.
Dip sandwich pieces in batter on each side until batter is nearly absorbed.
Add a tsp butter to a skillet and brown on each side.
This recipe is amounted for two but double the ingredients and you have 4, 6, etc.
