1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. cornstarch
dash of salt
dash of nutmeg
1 cup water
2 beaten egg yolks
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
2 tbsp. lemon juice
Recipe
Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt & nutmeg; gradually stir in water and cook over low heat until thick and clear, stirring constantly.
Whisk a small amount of hot liquid into egg yolks, then return to hot mixture, cooking and stirring one more minute. Remove from heat and add butter, lemon peel and lemon juice; blend thoroughly.
