Recipe Introduction
Trust me, on a chilly night you can't beat this soup for Total Comfort! I got this recipe from the chef at the Gooselore Hunting Lodge when we lived in Missouri...a total favorite of ours now!
List of Ingredients
7 Cups milk
2/3 cup butter
2/3 cup flour
12 slices bacon, cooked
3-4 large potatoes, baked and cubed
8 ounces sour cream
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 green onions, chopped OR 1/2 cup chopped white onion, chopped
salt and pepper
Recipe
In a large saucepan, melt the butter, then saute the onions until tneder. Stir in flour until smooth. Add milk and bring to a boil, then simmer until the mixture starts to thicken, stirring constantly. Add the potatoes and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the sour cream, bacon, and cheese. When cheese is melted, soup is ready to serve. This is a very thick soup so if you don't like yours quite this thick, just add a little more milk.
