Cheddar Ham Chowder

2 cups water
2 cups cubed potatoes
1/2 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded cheese
2 cups corn, canned or frozen
1 1/2 cups cubed hamRecipe
In a large saucepan bring water, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender.
In another saucepan melt butter, blend in flour. Add milk, cook and stir until thickened and smooth. Add cheese and stir until melted. Stir into soup. Add corn and ham. Heat thoroughly and serve.
