Spicy Potato Soup

List of Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
4 c. cubed peeled potatoes (1/2 in. cubes)
1 small onion, chopped (I add 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, too)
3 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
4 c. water
2 tsp. salt (I use less)
1 1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 to 1 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1 bay leaf (optional)
1 cup heavy cream (optional)
Recipe
In Dutch oven or large kettle, brown & crumble beef and pour off excess grease. Add remaining ingredients except the cream, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender and the soup has thickened.
If using bay leaf, remove it - and if using cream, add it and warm gently up to serving temperature.
