Recipe Introduction
Over 80,000 Mint Juleps are served over the 2-day period of the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby, requiring 8000 quarts of mint julep mix, 150 bushels of mint, and 60 tons of snow ice.

Syrup:
1/4 cup Fresh mint leaves
2 cups water, heated
2 cups sugar
Each drink:
1½ oz. bourbon
2½ oz. syrup
cracked ice
Recipe
Heat water. Whisk in sugar. Remove from heat. Add mint and allow to steep for 20 minutes.
Add cracked ice to glass. Add bourbon & syrup. Stir lightly. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf.
Traditionally served with 2 short straws.
