    Make Those Special Christmas or Birthday Gifts with these great recipes!

    List of Ingredients

    BEAN PASTA SOUP MIX

    3/4 Cup Dried onion flakes
    2 (1/2 ounce) dried Celery flakes
    1/2 Cup Dried parsley flakes
    3 Tablespoons Dried basil
    3 Tablespoons Dried oregano
    2 Teaspoons Garlic powder
    2 Teaspoons Coarsely ground pepper
    2 (2-1/4 ounce beef-Flavored bouillon granules
    1 16 Ounce Pkg dried black-eyed peas
    1 16 Ounce Pkg dried kidney beans
    1 16 Ounce Pkg dried navy beans
    1 16 Ounce Pkg small shell pasta Uncooked

    Combine first 7 ingredients; divide evenly, and place in 6
    airtight plastic bags. Add 2 tablespoon plus 1/4 teaspoon
    bouillon granules to each package. Label "Herb Mix" and seal.

    Combine black-eyed peas and next 3 ingredients; divide evenly and place in 6 airtight plastic bags. Label "Bean Mix" and seal.

    Place one bag herb mix, 1 bag bean mix, and bag pasta in a gift container; repeat procedure with remaining bags. Yield: 6 (3-bags) gifts.


    Directions for gift recipe card:


    "Sort and wash beans mix; place in a Dutch oven. Cover with water 2 inches above beans; soak 8 hours. Drain. Combine beans, 3 quarts water, herb mix, 1 carrot, chopped, and 2/3 cup chopped cooked ham in Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 2-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add 1 (14-1/2-ounce) can Mexican-style stewed tomatoes,undrained, and pasta; cook 20 minutes. Yield: 9 cups. Note: To use the quick-soak method, place beans in a Dutch oven; cover with water 2 inches above beans. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat; cover, and let stand 1 hour. Drain."

    COOKIE MIX IN A JAR

    For each quart jar you will need:

    1 Cup light brown sugar
    ½ Cup granulated sugar
    1 ½ Cups candy coated chocolates or chocolate chips
    2 Cups all purpose flour
    1 Teaspoon salt
    1 Teaspoon baking soda

    Mix salt and baking soda with flour. Then layer ingredients in jar as desired. Cover lid with a fabric circle and tie with a ribbon. To the ribbon attach a card with these DIRECTIONS:

    "To make cookies you will need:

    Cookie mix in a jar 1 c. butter 1 egg 1 t. vanilla
    Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift jar ingredients through a colander to separate out chocolate pieces from dry ingredients.

    Beat butter in a medium bowl until fluffy. Beat sifted dry
    ingredients into butter until blended. In a small bowl, beat egg and vanilla. Mix beaten egg mixture into butter mixture until blended.

    Stir in chocolate pieces. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased
    baking sheet. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes
    55 cookies."

    GOURMET OLIVES

    2 Jars 7 Oz Large Green Olives
    2 Cans 7 Oz Ripe Olives
    ¾ C Oil
    3 Tbsp Vinegar
    1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
    3 Cloves Minced Garlic
    10 Peppercorns -- Crushed

    Drain olives; transfer to large jar. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over olives. Cover and refrigerate 10 to 12 hours; shake olives occasionally to coat evently. (If transferring to gift jars, divide olives and liquid evenly.) Olives can be stored in refrigerator no longer than 2 weeks. Drain well before serving.

    HERB AND SPICE BLENDS FOR GIFTS

    To present as gifts, pack mixes into small jars with lids and labels.

    Tie jars onto a cookbook filled with herb and spice recipes.
    Herbs will keep for 6 months, tightly closed, in a cool, dry
    place.

    HERB AND SPICE BLENDS (Makes 1/3 cup of each blend)
    For BEEF: Mix 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper, 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes, 2-1/2 tablespoons garlic powder and 1 tablespoon dried minced onions.

    For FISH: Mix 2 tablespoons dried dillweed, 2 tablespoons crumbled bay leaves and 2 tablespoons freeze-dried chives.

    For FRUIT PIE, SPICE CAKES and COOKIES: Mix 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg, 1 tablespoon ground mace, 1 tablespoon ground allspice, 2 teaspoons ground cloves and 2 teaspoons ground cardamom.

    For VEGETABLES: Mix 2 tablespoons dried thyme, 2 tablespoons dried oregano and 2 tablespoons dried basil.

    For CHICKEN: Mix 2 tablespoons curry powder, 2 tablespoons
    paprika and 2 tablespoons dried lemon rind.

    For TOMATO SAUCE: Mix 2 tablespoons crumbled basil, 2 tablespoons dried minced onions, 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes and 1 tablespoon crumbled dried oregano.

    For LAMB: Mix 1-1/2 tablespoons dried marjoram, 1 tablespoon crumbled dried rosemary, 1 tablespoon white pepper and 2 tablespoons garlic powder.

    HOLIDAY MUFFIN MIX

    5 Cups All purpose flour
    1 Cup Whole wheat flour
    1 1/2 Cups Sugar
    1 Cup Instant nonfat dry milk
    1/4 Cup Baking powder
    2 Teaspoons Salt
    1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
    1/2 Teaspoon Cloves

    Light spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine all ingredients; blend well. Store in airtight container at room temperature or in a cool dry place. For gift giving measure 2 cups mix (by dipping cup into mix and leveling off), and place in an airtight container or zipper-topped storage bag. Be sure to include recipe for Holiday Muffins.

    "Holiday Muffins:

    2 cups Holiday Muffin Mix
    2/3 cups water
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1/4 cup oil

    Heat oven to 400 degrees.
    Grease bottoms only of 12 muffin cups or line with paper
    baking cups. Place muffin mix in medium bowl. Add water, egg
    and oil. Stir until dry ingredients are just moistened. Do not overmix. Fill greased muffin cups approximately 1/2 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

    Immediately remove from pan. Serve warm. Makes 12 muffins.

    M & M'S COOKIE MIX IN A JAR

    1 1/4 C Sugar
    1 1/4 C M&Ms® Plain Chocolate Candy
    2 C Flour Mixed With:
    1/2 Tsp Baking Soda And Baking Powder

    Layer ingredients in jar in order given in a 1 qt. wide mouth jar. It will be a tight fit, pack down firmly, especially the flour. Store in a cool dark place.

    Instructions on jars:

    "Empty jar into large mixing bowl. Use your hands to thoroughly mix. Add 1 stick of butter, softened, one egg, slightly beaten and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix until completely blended. You will need to finish mixing with your hands.

    Shape into balls the size of walnuts and place on parchment
    paper lined cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake at 375° for
    12-14 mins until edges are slightly browned. Cool on cookie
    sheets for about 5 mins and transfer to wire racks to cool.

    OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIE MIX

    3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
    1/2 cup sugar
    3/4 cup raisins
    2 cups old fashioned oats
    1 cup flour mixed with 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1/2 tsp salt

    Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart wide-mouth
    canning jar. It will be a tight fit, make sure you firmly pack down each layer in place before adding the flour mixture.

    Instructions to attach to jar:

    "1.} Empty jar of cookie mix into large mixing bowl. Use your hands to thoroughly blend mix.

    2.} Add: 11/2 sticks butter or margarine softened at room
    temp. 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tsp. vanilla

    3.} Mix until completely blended. You will need to finish mixing with your hands.

    4.} Shape into balls the size of walnuts.Place on a parchment lined cookie sheets 2" inches apart DO NOT USE WAXED PAPER.

    5.} Bake at 350° for 11 to 13 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet. remove cookies to baking racks to finish cooling. Makes 3 dozen cookies."

    SALAD SUPREME SEASONING

    1/4 C Romano Cheese
    1 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
    2 Tsp Paprika
    1 ½ Tsp Salt
    1 Tsp Celery Seeds
    1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
    1/2 Tsp Fresh Black Pepper
    Dash Cayenne

    Combine all ingredients well and store in a spice bottle.

    NOTES:
    Pasta Salad: Combine 8 ozs. cooked pasta, 8 ozs. Italian dressing and 4 Tablespoons Salad Supreme (or the amount in recipe). Toss with an assortment of chopped fresh vegetables. Chill.
