    Outback Steakhouse Bloomin Onion

    Source of Recipe

    unknown

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    2 teaspoons ketchup
    2 tablespoons horseradish, cream-style
    1/4 teaspoon paprika
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon oregano
    1 dash pepper
    1 dash cayenne pepper
    1 egg
    1 cup milk
    1 cup flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

    Recipe

Prepare the dipping sauce by combining the first 8 ingredients in a small bowl. Keep covered in the refrigerator until needed.

Beat the egg and combine it with the milk in a medium bowl.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour and all the spices.

Use an onion flower slicer to slice the onion almost all the way through. Spread the petals of the onion apart. Plunge the onion into boiling water for one minute, then into cold water.

Dip the onion into the milk mixture, then coat it liberally with the flour mixture. Again separate the petals and sprinkle the dry coating between them. Dip the onion back into the milk mixture, and once again into the flour mixture. Let the onion sit in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees (enough to completely cover the onion).

Fry the onion in the oil right side up for 10 minutes or until browned. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve with dipping sauce
