    Cake
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 cups granulated sugar
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 cup (2 sticks) butter
    1 cup water
    1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/2 cup sour cream
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
    1 tsp vanilla extract

    Icing
    1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
    5 to 6 tbsp milk
    1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1 box (1 lb) powdered sugar
    1 cup chopped pecans
    1 tsp vanilla extract

    To prepare cake:
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and lightly flour a 9x13-inch baking pan; set aside.

    In a large bowl, mix together flour, granulated sugar, baking soda and salt; set aside.

    In a medium saucepan, bring butter, water and cocoa to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until butter melts. Add the butter mixture, the sour cream, eggs and vanilla to the flour mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until all of hte flour is moistened.

    Pour the batter into the pan and spread smooth. Bake 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

    To prepare icing:
    While the cake is baking, in a medium saucepan, bring butter, milk and cocoa to a boil over medium heat; remove from heat. With a wooden spoon, stir in powdered sugar, chopped pecans and vanilla, until all of the sugar is moistened.

    Spread the icing on the cake as soon as it is removed from the oven. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve.
