Beef Barley Soup

7 cups water
3 cans (10 1/2-ounces each) condensed beef broth
1 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1/2-inch chunks
2 large onions, chopped
1 lb sliced fresh mushrooms
4 medium carrots, sliced
1 can (14 1/2-ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup quick-cooking pearl barleyRecipe
In a soup pot, combine all the ingredients except the barley; cover, and bring to a boil over high heat.
reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the barley and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the barley is tender.
