    Peppered Beef

    1 ea Garlic clove, minced
    1 1/2 lb Lean beef, cut 1" cubes
    2 T Shortening
    1 c Sliced fresh mushrooms
    2 cn Brown gravey (10 1/2 oz can)
    1 ea Green pepper, cut in strips

    Saute garlic and beef in hot shortening in a skillet. Put into 1 1/2 quart casserole. Combine mushrooms and gravey in skillet with drippings. Pour over meat. Bake, covered, at 350 deg. 2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove cover. Add pepper strips. Bake an additional 15 minutes or until pepper is tender but still crisp. Serve over rice or noodles
